GREAT BANG FOR YOUR BAKERY BUCK Full credit to Max Bakery (172 McIvor Rd, Strathdale) for their very reasonable prices on substantial servings of great food. Irene and I had morning tea there today …. toasted sandwiches and a take-away large latte each, which we partly consumed whilst there. When I requested a double-shot of coffee in each as we looove a bit of intensity, I was amazed to be told that they routinely use a TRIPLE-shot in the large take-away coffee cups. No wonder I’ve never had a sub-standard coffee there in over 25 years ! And if you love your sweets, their array of cakes are to die for … with our personal faves being the Bee-sting, Vanilla Slice and Eclairs, among a very strong field of other contenders. So … if you find yourself opposite the All Seasons Hotel, be sure to give your taste buds a treat at Max Bakery. You won’t want to leave !

No pastry microwave action here. Having an appointment in the area we stopped for lunch at Max Bakery Café. I must admit, the very nondescript entrance doesn’t do this café and bakery any justice, inside it is very inviting, as neat as a pin, extremely clean and very busy. All the staff here were very efficient and professional, although, one member, seemed very matter of fact and kept their smile and friendly manner hidden from view. We were going to takeaway however we decided to eat here. You can sit inside or out. Lately, we have found some pies from bakeries and cafés have had some microwave action however I am pleased to report that was not the case here. Crisp pastry, that held together was very pleasing, and tasty order of the day here. Our pies, sausage rolls and coffees were all very good. Well done to the team.

Service was good but it felt like a process line. Food was terrible. The eggs in my Quiche Lorraine tasted powdery and the cheese in my steak and cheese pie wasn't even melted before it was sold to me. My boss had two plain pies and he could barely finish one it was so bad. Parking is pretty shit there too.

If you want the real deal and desire bakery treats you best stop by Max Bakery, because I think it’s out in out the best there is in town (Bendigo area). Extremely good quality and very good service! I got a focaccia and a choc jam donut today for lunch and I got to say that it was absolutely superb and now it’s 1730 in the evening and I just got round to eating the choc jam with a cup of tea and all I can say is wow! Seriously the best bakery in town

The hedgehog is terrible, crunchy grains of sugar, can't taste any cocoa or chocolate at all. The standard factory ones at Coles are even so much better.
